  our school

The building, in the village of Robertsbridge next to Salehurst, was opened in 1988 and is light, spacious and welcoming. It includes seven classrooms, library, hall, ICT suite, activity areas and entrance area. The extensive grounds include a sports field, pond, play area and willow shelter. We have close links with our parish church, St. Mary’s, Salehurst, where we hold various school services throughout the year.

  • Setting a good example of behaviour
  • Giving pupils appropriate responsibility
  • Giving clear rules which are understood and positively reinforced
  • Providing a tidy, well organised environment
  • Taking pride in our school
  • Encouraging a team spirit and caring for one another

  Aims

aims We aim to provide a rich, challenging curriculum with an emphasis on ‘Excellence and Enjoyment’ that enables all children to reach their full potential. We aim to develop self-reliant, responsible young people with a healthy respect for others and for their environment. In addition to academic achievement, we aim to engender honesty, fair play and good citizenship. As a village school we aim to foster the children's involvement in the life of the community. We encourage parents to feel involved in the life of the school so that we may work together to prepare the children to become confident, worthwhile members of society.

As a church school, we aim to develop children’s knowledge and understanding of the Christian faith and foster a love of and respect for God and His creation. We believe that all that happens in our school, the pastoral care, education and community life, has the potential to speak of God’s loving care for each and every one of us. There is an act of worship, which includes prayers and a hymn or spiritual song, each day for all the children. Children learn about other religions in R.E. lessons and we believe that all religious faiths and cultures can work together in a spirit of mutual understanding and respect.

  Organisation

There are currently seven classes at the school, which are organised into separate year groups:

  Inclusion

At Salehurst School, all pupils are valued equally as we believe each child is entitled to experience success by having their needs met and supported. This includes gifted and talented children as well as those with special needs. Different levels of support are given to different pupils and there are regular reviews led by our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). The school’s Special Needs Policy is available on request from the school office.
